School In Focus

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life.”

– Lao Tzu

The two basic functions of an after-school program is to provide a safe environment for the child, and to give support to his learning. We realize that while it is ideal for a parent to be a child’s primary educator outside school, it is not always possible and we have the heavy responsibility of being that substitute.

Supporting a child’s learning goes beyond helping him with his homework and review. More important is to impart to a child a reason to learn, the desire to achieve, and the tools to do it with. Tools such as:

  • Organizational skills
  • Time management skills
  • Accountability
  • Study skills and strategies
  • Manipulation and use of knowledge
